Alessandro Santoro



Born in Rio de Janeiro, the pianist, harpsichordist and son of the Brazilian composer Claudio Santoro earned a "Master of Fine Arts" in piano from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow under the guidance of Elena Richter. After touring the then USSR, he recorded his father's Piano Concerto No. 1.
He completed his master's degree in harpsichord with Jacques Ogg at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where he later joined the faculty. He performed with the Orchestra of the 18th Century and founded the Den Haag Baroque Orchestra.
Regularly sought after as a harpsichord professor at festivals throughout Brazil, his discography includes 22 CDs, notably earning the "Diapason D'Or" for the CD featuring works by Leclair and the recently released double CD with the complete works for violin and piano by Claudio Santoro, featuring violinist Emmanuele Baldini.
He received the trophy from the Legislative Chamber for the best soundtrack at the 48th Brasília Film Festival. Currently, he is a harpsichord and basso continuo professor at EMESP in São Paulo and responds to his father's physical and virtual musical archives.
